Question: Are you aware of the fact that what WT did for R5 theme is horribly inconsistent and simply not that good? Mark my words, Reaper's GUI will once again be a negative point in reviews. How can you not care?

Question: Do you have any pointers (ha) about a simple architecture for audio processing? I'd like to try writing a little daw in lua(jit).
Asked by exp2 (79.42.116.x) on June 6 2015, 9:04pm
Reply on June 9 2015, 4:28am:
LuaJit will probably give you problems since you can't have threads, which are pretty essential for a DAW.

Question: Deflation, it hasn't been tested and many assumptions are made like fixed incomes and that there is only one currency. Re: trust, multi-sig escrow. As I mentioned a lot has changed in 2 years. I won't try to persuade you anymore. You seem happy with your current opinions. Perhaps I was wrong about it being a good fit for you.
Asked by JimmaJamma (67.84.38.x) on June 4 2015, 2:25am
Reply on June 5 2015, 2:29pm:
Perhaps! But again, distributed trust is interesting, and bitcoin as a vehicle for that is interesting too.

Question: Do you regret handing the reigns off to WA3 dev to Brennan instead of doing it yourself once you had the financial resources of AOL? It seems you more than any other had the best chance of becoming what is now itunes/spotify/etc.. Seems almost like a wasted opportunity. :(
Asked by Will (70.173.145.x) on June 2 2015, 11:52pm
Reply on June 3 2015, 2:13pm:
I don't think anything we could have done would have made a difference, honestly. AOL wasn't in a business of not fucking things up.

Question: I forgot to state my initial impetus for contacting you. I see a common thread. What mp3s did for artists (though it could have turned out even better had mp3.com not been shut down) bitcoin stands to do for all people. Decentralize the power. Re: deflation, it's not a bad thing like the article says.
Asked by JimmaJamma (67.84.38.x) on June 2 2015, 1:03am
Reply on June 2 2015, 3:42pm (edited at June 2 2015, 3:44pm):
I'm no economist, but my understanding is that deflation is very much a bad thing for most participants of economies. It greatly favors those with excess over those with nothing, and doesn't provide incentive for investment or commerce.

Also: to buy anything with bitcoin requires trusting the merchant completely. If I pay you 1 BTC for something, and I never get it, I really have no recourse, other than to complain. It's like I sent you cash in the mail.

Question: re: bitcoin. Much has happened and learned since 2013. For example regarding the environmental costs they should really be compared to the systems bitcoin disrupts, not just the costs of bitcoin in a vacuum. Re: deflation, computer tech is deflationary yet it still progresses and has a thriving economy. I suggest it's worth a revisit.

I'm not sure that makes any sense, and equating computer tech to currency would be a huge leap at any rate.
