Question: May I be forgiven for asking about a REAPER feature due to the forum goons having no idea what I'm talking about? (i.e. what is the best possible method to handle this case?)

You are forgiven for REAPER questions as that is a valid question. The discouraging bit above is more to prevent people asking "when is REAPER going to do XYZ?" or "why don't you implement ABC?"
