Question: JSFX is "compiled on the fly", but when I write even just a few second-order filters it takes up way more CPU than a native plugin like ReaEQ. How much of that is the language, and how much is me needing to write more efficient code?

I'd have to see the code, but if you code them carefully it should take about 2x the CPU as reaeq, plus a bit of extra calling overhead, I'd imagine.
