Question: what's your favourite CPU since you started programming? if you had to choose between Xenon and Cell-BE, what would you pick?

The most fun was probably the P133 I had.. since it was powerful and you could predict how it would run things.. whereas these days it's hard to imagine how CPUs schedule things.

schwa says to check out the WDL GL stuff.. if you mean taking GL bits and getting them to a normal window, you'd use glReadPixels to a data store then blit the pixels to the window.

but I don't know what any of that means. ;)

Question: A (viable?) answer for Tim Whitman: The samples are picked directly from the MP3 decoding process. Justin, isn't it?

Question: Did you guys use DirectSound to create the spectrum analyzer in Winamp? If not, did you capture samples from the soundcard?
Asked by Tim Whitman (76.124.95.x) on September 18 2009, 2:09pm
Reply on September 19 2009, 2:39pm:
Winamp would have access to the samples.. Originally the spectrum analyzer (and EQ for that matter) actually grabbed information from the frequency domain of the mp3 decoding, so it didn't require doing any sort of FFT etc.

For audio CDs, we'd play them and then sample the audio device for visualization, I think (using waveInOpen() etc)..
