Various things, REAPER for linux is one of them. Hours per week -- the last week I took off, so about 5. Normally more than that, but I don't really keep track.

Question: Are there any technical limitations to supporting more than 62/64 hardware MIDI I/O? Not asking as a FR/fix, just genuinely curious.
Asked by EvilDragon (213.202.92.x) on May 17 2017, 3:03pm
Reply on May 18 2017, 1:40pm:
We have an int64 mask for enabled bits for devices, that's about the only limitation. The other places should handle it OK.

Probably, though there's some noise about two patents that expire in August and December.

Not any time soon... I have toyed with the idea of making v.999 GPL, maybe sooner rather than later (already over 10 years, eep!)

Question: You see all these tutorials about coding these days. They talk about C++, Python, etc. However, it seems like just basic tutorial stuff most of the time. But, what is the best way to learn so one can really create valuable stuff like Winamp?

Question: I posted a thread (reaper.fm) that packaging reaper for the Store on W10 is not a technical complication. Can we expect to see Reaper in the Windows (Microsoft) Store? Dont you think students access to Reaper even if they're on 10S is a good idea?
Asked by Sijmen Koffeman (83.132.230.x) on May 7 2017, 1:45pm
Reply on May 7 2017, 9:36pm:
Choosing whether to participate in an entirely different ecosystem is a complex decision, and I don't think you can unequivocally say that there is no technical complication.

Question: I'm about to write a small Win32 program which needs MP4 video playback. What library do you recommend?
Asked by Rodrigo (177.204.35.x) on April 30 2017, 7:27pm
Reply on May 1 2017, 2:47am:
Unfortunately there's really no good solution that I can recommend. There is a Win8+ API for MP4 decoding, but I don't think it's very straightforward to use, and you can use FFmpeg, but it's also very not straightforward. I'd probably recommend the latter, though.

For the most part it seems you're trading one attack vector for another... Ideally you should find a provider that you trust and use them, or VPN through them.

SSL browsing of course helps things a lot -- so your ISP can see what site you're browsing but not which pages, etc.
