Question: Do you often experience a mental state of excitement while coding, where you hardly can stop and really want so see that feature running… sometimes loosing the ability to question what you are doing? If yes, do you rather stop or continue the whole night?
Asked by David (93.221.70.x) on September 21 2017, 6:41pm
Reply on September 21 2017, 6:46pm:
I get obsessive about coding related things at times, but I've gotten better at getting them to an intermediate state that is non-complete but what that I can resume more easily, so I don't have to stay up all night. I do continue to question what I'm doing as I'm doing it, too, and often do a lot of work only to throw it away (or let it live only in my git reflog until it gets gc'd away someday).

Question: Do you think real-time remote music collaboration is possible in the short term?
Asked by Thomas (107.77.237.x) on September 18 2017, 5:12pm
Reply on September 19 2017, 12:39pm:
Multiple people editing the same project remotely? Sure. In REAPER? Not in the short term

Question: Yeah, I have a working Windows version. I sent the wrong link earlier. I'll send the right one to your email tomorrow. Thanks,Wyatt

Check out github.com! If you're not using git (or some other version control), you should be!

Question: Hi Justin. Wow. Thanks so much. This will be great! I'm not sure how to put it on github, as I've never used it. I'll study it and see if I can, be it might be best if you did it. Again, Many Thanks, Wyatt

Hmm is it pretty much done on Windows or is there much work to be done? Are there buttons on the main window that need to be there? It's unclear to me... Anyway email me (justin at cockos) about this.

Question: For the record, "Linux stuff" does count! If for no other reason than being able to develop VSTs on my laptop and test in Reaper! Re: development on Linux, are you a whiz with GDB or do you use MSVS for any non-platform specific debugging?
Asked by fmap (47.54.22.x) on September 17 2017, 8:39pm
Reply on September 18 2017, 12:38am:
I use GDB but end up googling how to do things a ton.

Question: Hi Justin. I was wondering if you could help me port an extension for Mac? www.wyattrice.com/reaper_ddp_marker/ddp_marker_list_editor.zip...
Asked by Wyatt Rice (76.77.160.x) on September 17 2017, 6:50pm
Reply on September 18 2017, 12:38am (edited at September 18 2017, 12:41am):
I would be happy to (at some point in the next couple of weeks anyway)! If you want to post it on github you can (and give me write perms), otherwise I'll make a repository there. Might be good to merge the latest WDL too, since it'll have swell updates.

Question: Simplest way to make a custom control with WDL? a REAPER-like slider or tab control.
Asked by Gio (79.130.161.x) on September 16 2017, 4:36pm
Reply on September 16 2017, 5:29pm:
That's too vague, maybe post on the forums with more details as to what you're looking for (you want to make a new HWND, or a WDL_VWnd based control? It's unclear...)

Question: While on subject of ARA: it's not just for Melodyne. There are other plugins like VocALign that use it, so asking every plugin to support Reaper API is probably also not gonna happen... Sadly as much as people love Reaper, you guys don't have the industry pull for other devs to implement your API into their plugins, except Voxengo, heh.
Asked by Parrot (85.17.24.x) on September 16 2017, 7:33am
Reply on September 16 2017, 3:15pm (edited at September 16 2017, 4:00pm):
OK fine a handful of plugins. It would probably take them an hour or two to add support for the REAPER API (which is flexible and incredibly simple), and the end result would be a lot more efficient and flexible IMO.

Question: Spy++... I don't have/use Visual Studio, and that seems to be the only way to get it?...

Question: Since Schwa successfully completed Automation Items while you took a breather (Linux stuff doesn't count), does that mean that you're up next for the ARA integration? Are you looking forward to getting back in the game?
Asked by Mommy (76.110.183.x) on September 15 2017, 4:47pm
Reply on September 15 2017, 10:48pm (edited at September 15 2017, 10:51pm):
This is inappropriate subject matter, again. But while I have you here, ARA is the wrong solution to the problem, a good solution would be for Melodyne to support the REAPER API to access samples. Making ARA fit into REAPER for one plug-in is too ugly.

Question: Re: mouse. More Justin humor? :)... I would but it's the only one I have. And it was kinda pricey for a mouse, so I really want it to work everywhere :(

Question: I am having horrible issues with horizontal mousewheel not working in Reaper as supposed to... Thread exists since May this year (t=192376)... Please check post #16 because I think I have the issue nailed, it's not just Logitech drivers, it's Reaper messing something up as well... Sorry for posting here but I really want this to work with Reaper!

Question: I have started building my own personal (non public) daw, but every couple of days I randomly hear about some new feature in reaper that makes me doubt I should continue. Spectral editing? Automation items? Seriously? You are going to "steal" users from both the edm kids market and the post guys! Are you trying to annihilate competition in the daw market by

You need surprisingly few features to do interesting things, IMO. Some of the stuff I made with REAPER early on was really fun...

Question: Hi, I would like to build a cli based Jesusonic with Raspberry Pi. The old Jesusonic software is only available to x86 Linux. Have you ever think about to breathe new life into your old project, just for fun? I mean would you consider to release the ARM version of the old ncurses Jesusonic? Or source?

Question: I recall a VST plugin for WInamp that codec'd Dolby B for restoring old cassettes. I've got shoeboxes of those, so... VST, huh? will it work with Reaper?
Asked by GNbig (107.3.222.x) on September 11 2017, 10:54pm

If it was a VST, then obviously it'd work in REAPER... but I imagine you meant there was a Winamp dsp_ plug-in, which would not work in REAPER... sooo....

Question: Not sure if this should be a bug report, but on linux, tooltips are being spawned in their own window, which is messing with my tiling window manager (i3wm). The splash screen is also acting similarly, instead of floating like a normal dialog/splash/tooltip would. Example: gfycat.com/ReflectingPiercingBear

You should post this in the pre-release forum, ideally :) Edit: ahh, actually, open your ~/.REAPER/reaper.ini, find the line that says "gdk_borderless_are_override_redirect=auto", and change it to =1. That'll take care of it! Maybe I can make it autodetect i3 and use that option...
