I think it's cool, and adding it to the resources section would probably make sense (though right now we're lazy).

Before REAPER I used Logic and Vegas and Acid. Obviously since then there’s no reason to use anything else (other than when testing ReWire etc)

Question: 1) What do you like more? i) City or Countryside? ii) Summer or Winter? iii) Piano or Guitar? iv) Computer or Laptop? 2) Are you introvert, ambivert or extrovert? [permalink]
Asked by Abhijeet Singh (59.89.123.x) on December 20 2017, 10:00am
Reply on December 20 2017, 3:22pm:
City most of the time, wilderness some of the time. Summer for sure. Guitar as of late. I like the quiet and low power consumption of laptops, but like fullsize keyboards, mice, screens. Right now I'm using a RMBP connected to a MS natural keyboard and mouse, and a thunderbolt display, and it's quite nice. I'm an introvert sometimes and an extrovert others, but in both cases I'd say they're pretty mild.

    It's not mine, but I imagine reaper_sws does :)

Question: JSFX is "compiled on the fly", but when I write even just a few second-order filters it takes up way more CPU than a native plugin like ReaEQ. How much of that is the language, and how much is me needing to write more efficient code? [permalink]
Asked by signalsmith (72.21.198.x) on December 19 2017, 1:05am
Reply on December 19 2017, 2:57am:
I'd have to see the code, but if you code them carefully it should take about 2x the CPU as reaeq, plus a bit of extra calling overhead, I'd imagine.

As far as I know ARA2 has been in development a long time. I'm out of the loop on ARA so I am not qualified to answer, but I imagine ARA2 would be extending ARA1...

Question: I know this is crazy... but is it possible that in Reaper 6 we will see video recording capability? (recording video using your laptop build-in camera or the one that is connected to your computer) It would've been really handy for bloggers and tutorial type of guys. Though I understand that it might be to complex to implement. [permalink]

Question: Q1) Will you make a new theme for REAPER 6 or continue the v5 theme? Q2) What if you get tired & stop developing REAPER? Will you open-source it? Will REAPER continue to develop after becoming open-source? [permalink]
Asked by Abhijeet Singh (61.2.248.x) on December 14 2017, 4:55am
Reply on December 14 2017, 3:03pm:
I can't say theme plans have been made, but every other major version of REAPER so far has had a new theme. Re: getting tired of REAPER, I wouldn't worry about that any time soon, and maybe by the time you would worry about it we'll have AI writing code for us? :)

Question: Please, discontinue the unlimited trial period, JF :/ many people actually won't buy REAPER just because of this. [permalink]
Asked by Abhijeet Singh (117.207.142.x) on December 13 2017, 9:08am
Reply on December 13 2017, 3:36pm (edited at December 13 2017, 3:37pm):
There is no unlimited trial period! The trial period is 60 days, but we choose not to enforce it via copy protection because doing so would: not be a good use of development resources, not make the best product, result in additional support burden, prevent licensed users from using it in certain instances, encourage illegitimate users to use cracked versions (and thus making them less likely to buy a license eventually), and so on. Also, what's it to you?
