Question: Will the WavPack version in REAPER be updated anytime soon? Version 5.1 was released in Jan 2017. What are your thoughts about recording directly to WavPack instead of WAV?
Asked by Michael (47.184.86.x) on June 4 2018, 8:37pm
Reply on June 5 2018, 12:02am (edited at June 5 2018, 12:03am):
Ah perhaps, yeah (though not sure anything in 5.1 would even apply to the reaper plug-in). I record to wavpack rather than .wav a lot of the time! It uses more CPU but usually when recording I have a ton of CPU to spare (even on a very old C2Q).

Question: Hi Justin. Two or more duplicated lines and I will usually make it a function. What are your thoughts on code duplication?
Asked by provoc (118.209.246.x) on June 4 2018, 3:01pm
Reply on June 4 2018, 7:25pm:
I think that's a bit premature, but a dozen lines seems about right. Having said that, I'm very guilty of letting functions get huge.

Question: There are a few people reporting that Reaper's performance takes a hit due to Spectre and Meltdown fixes, which apparently restrict something related to thread-handling. Is this true, and if so, can anything be done about it?

Question: Which OS has the best audio api in your experience?
Asked by Will (23.125.224.x) on June 2 2018, 12:37pm
Reply on June 2 2018, 2:54pm:
For audio: I'd say something like jack(linux) and ASIO(windows but not a MS API) are tied somewhat, then CoreAudio (macOS), then ALSA, then far behind the native win32 APIs.

For MIDI, jack is simplest, then maybe coreaudio/win32. I haven't implemented ALSA MIDI yet.

Question: Will you guys release both 32 & 64 bit REAPER 6 or just 64 bit? Newly released Studio one 4, Live 10 & Reason 10 stopped developing 32 bit and only provides 64 bit software. Actually, now it's better to stop having compatibility for older computers since 99% people use 64 bit now and soon, no one will use 32 bit. Barely there are people who use Windows XP, m
