Question: Why do you no understand there's only one correct answer to "What's the meaning of life?" Well, okay, you could argue that "What's the meaning of life?" is not the same as "What's the Answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything."

"Not". One mispelled word can make a person sound like a non-English speaker. "No" was very reasonably misspelled because typing fast, the "t" got dropped, and no changes could be made after clicking the submit button. Semantically, though, "no" and "not" before "understand" are equivalent. Misspellings and phrases such as "I dunt standunder" show that natural language is very fault tolerant.

In principle, any joke should never be explained, but people who've read some of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, a book full of things meant to be goofy jokes, such as 42, will latch on to 42 as the only answer to the question "What's the meaning of life?", which itself is many times asked as a joke.

ah yes my not understanding wasn’t due to no vs not... but yeah it’s a good joke. and it sort of ties into the whole modern notion that we are likely a simulation anyway....
