Question: Do you enjoy making your own JSFX?.Even in secret like - for personal/close family use only, not for Rea community? I am really enjoying General Dynamics and that Spectral Hold FX you did - Blooming great, best yet ;).- Or do you just, say, meh!..''they are alright, want to add a FR or something more important instead like'' Also, are you mates, acquaintances or affiliated with the guy from MeldaProductions? You guys are both great at what you do and in the same generation gap hey? Their new Superlooper seems great and x3 prettier ;)

I do enjoy using the JSFX I make, but if I make it and it's useful then I try to include it w/ REAPER. I email routinely with Melda (compatibility etc), I know they use REAPER so maybe super8 had some influence on MSuperlooper, but you'd have to ask them. It's been fun adapting super8 for grid-based use (project BPM adapting, project sync, etc) vs the freeform original use for live improv...

Question: Do you know Lights? If not, then here are 4 best songs of her. Maybe this is new genre for you, but I definitely think you will like at least two songs. All songs sound pleasant and uplifting and makes me happy - justpaste.it/5zpmp

Question: For C++ extensions to draw LICE graphics inside REAPER windows, plain subclassing works well on Windows, Linux, and on macOS when “Optimized drawing” is DISabled. (I.e. when WM_PAINT is received, first InvalidateRect and call original WinProc, then blit LICE bitmap into windowDC.) But on macOS with optimized drawing ENabled, there are glitches – and sometimes the blitted image is not visible at all. Is there a clever trick to getting this to work? (What goes on under the hood with optimized drawing?)

Question: What's your favourite Minor scale? Natural, Melodic (ascending) or Harmonic? Have you made a music in pure minor scale?
Asked by Abhi (106.212.145.x) on April 28 2020, 3:51am
Reply on April 28 2020, 8:26pm:
I dunno I don't really pay attention to what scales things actually end up being in (keys, sure, scales less so)

Question: What if we double the frames in a 30 fps video? Will it become a 60 fps video? And also smooth?
Asked by Abhi (110.227.149.x) on April 27 2020, 5:24pm
Reply on April 28 2020, 8:27pm:
It will, but not be smooth. To do smooth you'd have to do some inter-frame prediction or something

Question: Setting the HWND parameter to null when calling KBD_OnMainActionEx() ... does it mean it relates to the currently focused window or REAPER's main window?
Asked by helgoboss (84.59.97.x) on April 27 2020, 3:01pm
Reply on April 28 2020, 8:28pm:
We don't actually look at that HWND, but it is passed to hooks registered with "hookcommand2".

Question: I have tried REAPER ReWorked. It's really good. Bring lots of hidden features into the limelight. And everything is very much organized. Have you tried that? Any comment about that?

Question: Portable installation is so good. Why you guys still give us the normal installation? Isn't it better we all to switch to portable installation? Any disadvantage portable installation has over normal installation? I recently tested portable installation and found it great. Now I am switching my main REAPER into portable one.
Asked by Abhi (182.68.65.x) on April 25 2020, 8:24am
Reply on April 25 2020, 9:26pm:
Most people prefer to have all of the system integration stuff, it seems. The only real things I can think of that require installation, though, are ReWire and ReaRoute.

Question: Touchscreen is future! Is REAPER touch-ready? Now, some people (maybe including you?) will say that touchscreen in laptop isn't good? Yeah it's not good in normal laptops, but in flip (2-in-1 hybrid laptop + tablet) laptops, having touch screen operations is very good. ANOTHER QUESTION - what daw controller and midi keyboard do you have? I have read that there is a controller specific for REAPER? Is this correct? Any suggestions? Also, do you use 16-pad MIDI controller??
Asked by TouchIsFuture (178.62.89.x) on April 23 2020, 4:06pm
Reply on April 24 2020, 12:32am:
I do use it with a touchscreen on my C101 chromebook a decent amount, works well! I mostly use a keyboard and mouse, though I have an Akai MPK mini which I use for drum pads, and a hacked up m-audio keyboard for piano playing. I don't recommend either of them, though.

Question: What's the best way to manually update WDL_WndSizer RECTs (orig, real_orig, last)? The use case is for a slitter; want onResize to remember last changed position. Thanks.
Asked by Gio (79.130.163.x) on April 23 2020, 3:46am
Reply on April 24 2020, 12:30am:
They are a bit poorly named. When you first add items, it gets their current rectangles and sets real_orig and orig. Then, onResize transforms orig into last and repositions the window. If you wish to tweak this, you can modify orig. real_orig is there for your convenience. If you want to be hidpi-mode aware, there are some functions for converting between the current DPI settings and the sizer's DPI units, too (orig/real_orig/last are all in the same units which might differ from the current DPI units).

Question: Do you happen to know if reaper can take advantage of obscene amounts of cores, like from a 3990X? Has anyone even ran reaper on one of those? It's about four thousand bucks away from being a practical question for me, just curious if you heard anything from users. :)
Asked by ebbn (95.235.113.x) on April 21 2020, 5:03pm
Reply on April 24 2020, 12:31am:
Probably, though we've only recently added the CPU groups support for systems with more than 64 logical cores (on Windows) so it is not extensively tested.

Question: What's the difference between normal cockos plugins and JS plugins in reaper? Why JS plugin needed? Why didn't you made those plugins normal like reacomp, reaeq etc?
